There’s something truly special about scalloping season on Nantucket. It’s a tradition that brings friends and family together in celebration of the island’s natural bounty. Over the weekend, we took our loved ones (some newbies) to Pocomo Beach to join in on the fun, enjoying the chilly air and scenery for a day filled with excitement and getting a little dirty!
Equipped with our rakes, nets and buckets, we waded into the cold waters gathering our scallops. The thrill of finding those hidden treasures beneath the surface never gets old. Once the hard work was done, we turned to one of our favorite traditions: shucking by the fire, and of course, indulging in some cocktails on the patio and catching up with our PMC team.
After the fun of shucking and hanging by the fire, the shells go through a careful process of washing and bleaching. Once they're sparkling clean, they become the perfect materials for creating beautiful wreaths —nature’s art, reimagined. It’s a way to preserve the memory of our fun day on the beach and bring a little bit of Nantucket’s magic into our home all year round!
