BEFORE AND AFTER - BOSTON COMMON MAISONETTE

This traditional Back Bay brownstone had recently been renovated into two separate apartments with our client purchasing the lower level apartment.

Our clients wanted to add their own personal imprint with more contemporary design elements within the very traditional architecture. At the clients request, we removed the original heavy paneling around the original traditional fireplace and installed smokey mirrors with "magic television technology" and a ventless fireplace, in place of the original wood burning fireplace.

We also stained the treads and risers a dark ebony color, added a sleek slate gray runner, and replaced the handrail and balusters with glass panels and a streamlined wooden handrail fitted with led lights underneath.

The successful end result was a lovely updated maisonette, respectful of New England traditional architecture with a touch of contemporary flair.
