Summer Wrap Up
First night of Nantucket by Design week.
This summer was the perfect time for KPI to embark on so many exciting new projects, award submissions, and events in and out of the city. Currently we're in the midst of starting and completing several projects, including a 10,200-square-foot home in the Miami suburbs, a brownstone on Commonwealth Ave and a (now) gutted flat in Beacon Hill, a single family brick colonial home in Brookline and a home in Woods Hole.
We were nominated once again for the New England Home Hall of Fame, and submitted several projects for the 2023 Bulfinch Awards. The middle of July also brought on dealing with the aftermath of a hacked Instagram account (UGH!) The first week of August was filled with events on Nantucket Island for Nantucket By Design week and the Pan Mass Challenge.
There has been no shortage of adventures for team KPI!
Navigating the Aftermath: Hacked Instagram Account
In an increasingly digital world, cyber threats have become a serious concern for so many. If you've ever fallen victim to a hacked Instagram account like we did, you know how distressing it can be. Our instagram account at 3,700 followers displayed our process, behind the scenes content of installs, design meetings, photoshoots, and other creative endeavors we see day to day. Fortunately we were able to get our original instagram handle back, but lost all our followers and content. If you’re in the interior design industry, or just have a personal account, make sure to implement strong security measures, like two-factor authentication to protect your account from potential threats.

Nantucket Garden Club Event: 2023 67th Annual House and Garden Walking Tour
Our Nantucket Captains’ House project was featured in The Nantucket Garden Club’s Annual House and Garden Tour that brings together garden enthusiasts and architect and interior design lovers. The response to our Nantucket Captains’ House was overwhelming, with praise for the darker and moody tones it boasts while restoring the history of the home. We were so happy to hear that it sparked so much inspiration for so many. Thank you to The Nantucket Garden Club for the opportunity to showcase our work!
During the tour we also released the official Nantucket Captains' House coffee table book available for purchase soon.
Nantucket by Design August 2 - 5, 2023
Another successful week of events put on by "Nantucket by Design" and the Nantucket Historic Association on isle! Nantucket by Design is a celebration of the island’s unique influence on design with engaging keynote speakers, panel discussions, a partnership with The Nantucket Summer Antiques Show, and more. A journey into the world of design, the week brought together designers from near and far. I enjoyed attending all the events throughout the week. All of the conversations ignited inspiration for new upcoming projects.
Among the treasures of the week were antique shows and art openings which gave a glimpse into Nantuckets history's artistic legacy. Elegant dinners and luncheons transformed into vibrant hubs for new connections to be made, where laughter mingled with discussions about creativity and design, forging connections that were endured far beyond the event.
"Nantucket by Design" week was a celebration of design's power to shape our surroundings and ignite our imaginations. Each lecture, opening, antique show, and gathering was a truly unforgettable experience. I am already looking forward to next year!
2023 Pan Mass Challenge
My husband Scott Paton and KPI’s Project and Communications Director, Augusta Mayer rode in the 2023 Pan Mass Challenge this past weekend, August 5th and 6th. This was Augusta’s first year, while it was Scott’s 17th. They both rode to raise funds for cancer research and treatment at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. What an accomplishment. Congratulations to all that participated!
Hosting Leslie Banker’s ‘Think Like a Decorator’ book signing event at Veronica Beard with Melanie Gowen
Fellow designer Melanie Gowen and I hosted Leslie Banker for a book singing at Veronica Beard during Nantucket by Design week for a book signing for her latest book ‘Think Like a Decorator’
The book focuses on the tricks and trade of interior decorating and design tips, encouraging readers to think creatively and critically about their living spaces - just as a decorator does!
It's always enjoyable to be a part of such fun gatherings where you have the opportunity to hear from the author, get your book signed, and interact with attendees who share the same love for interior design.
Casa Branca is currently offering a pop up in the Veronica Beard store.
The collaborative shopping experience opened during Nantucket by Design week and ends August 27th. If you’re on the island, be sure to check it out…
It has been quite an eventful last few months. While summer is not over just yet - we hope everyone is enjoying these last weeks, and we can’t wait to see what the fall has in store for us. Leave us a comment and let us know what the highlight of your summer was!
